Before becoming the first female President of the National Institute of Natural Sciences, Maki Kawai also worked at the University of Tokyo, RIKEN, and Royal Society of Chemistry. Throughout her career, she held many different positions as a professor, honorary scientist, fellow, and member. She shares her story and experiences as a woman in Japan and as an Asian woman in science. Her inspiring talk was a glance into the world of a female scientist, spreading hope and passion for the women of QNS to become world renowned scientists like herself.
