Andreas Heinrich receives Humboldt Research Award

Feb 6, 2023

Prof. Dr. Andreas Heinrich, director of the IBS Center for Quantum Nanoscience and distinguished professor at EWHA Womans University, was awarded the prestigious Humboldt Research Award by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Among other things, he received the prize for his decades of pioneering work in the study of quantum spins on surfaces on an atomic scale and the further development of scanning tunneling microscopy, which can image individual atoms more precisely.

The Humboldt Research Prize is awarded annually to up to 100 leading international scientists outside of Germany for their overall work to date. The award winners are invited to advance their research together with German colleagues at German scientific institutions. Prof. Heinrich would like to take this opportunity to further expand the cooperation between German scientists and the IBS Center for Nanoscience.
