TEAM LEADER
Optics Integrated Scanning Tunneling Microscopy
Wonjun Jang
“Wonjun is now working as the leader of the research team on quantum light-matter interaction on surfaces using optics-integrated STM. He is an expert in constructing specialized functionalized low-temperature STMs. He developed Bob, a 10 mK electron spin resonance STM at the Center for Quantum Nanoscience (QNS) and Charlie, a 1 K electron spin resonance STM with the lowest vibration noise level and Dave, a 1 K optics-combined STM.
He experienced Dirac materials, TMD material and high Tc superconductors, particularly on symmetry-based topological physics. At QNS, he is developing novel techniques for qubits with high fidelity. Specifically, he is focusing on novel single-atom qubits operated by light-matter interaction using optics-integrated STM.”
“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.”
