Postdoc
Pierre Josse
Pierre obtained his PhD from the University of Angers (France) under the direction of Philippe Blanchard and Clément Cabanetos. There, he worked on the elaboration of original π-conjugated systems based on dyes for applications in organic solar cells. After a stay in the group of Benoît Lessard in the University of Ottawa (Canada), he came back to France to join the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) as a postdoctoral researcher. His work, conducted between France and Yonsei University (Korea) focused on the design of active compounds for light emitting devices (OLEDs, LECs). The peculiar optical properties of some of these newly developed molecules also led him to get interested in photodynamic therapy and photocatalysis. Now part of the IBS Center for Quantum Nanoscience (Korea), he is applying his synthetic skills to design and prepare on-surface arrays of molecular qubits.
“Le scientifique n’étudie pas la nature car elle est utile ; il l’étudie parce qu’il y prend plaisir.”
“The scientist does not study nature because it is useful; he studies it because he enjoys it.”
