Digital Science Communications Specialist (Graphic Design)

The Center for Quantum Nanoscience at Ewha Womans University (QNS), is seeking a digital science communications specialist to support our team. This exciting position will be a key part of our communications team working with scientists to develop graphics for their publications; do all graphic design for events and outreach; manage QNS’s social media (FB, IG, LI, Twitter); WordPress website; and SEO.

This is a bilingual position (Korean/English).

Requirements:

  • Bi-lingual: Korean-English at professional communication level
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a communications, publications, or a scientific discipline
  • Graphic design at professional level
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • WordPress website development and maintenance
  • Basic knowledge in SEO minimum
  • Social media know how

Responsibilities include:

  • Take ownership of QNS visual identity and brand
  • Social media presence: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn
  • Annual report: compile and design
  • Develop graphics for scientific papers with research team
  • Website development for conferences, events, etc…
  • Website updates and maintenance of QNS web presence including: QNS official website (qns.science), internal (guru.qns.science), event websites, etc…
  • Online account management (Dropbox, GSuite, Smartsheet, etc) for team

Key skills:

  • Graphic design
  • Experience with social media platforms; ability to plan, manage, and execute initiatives
  • Bilingual copy writing for social media
  • Communication skills; creativity; teamwork and the ability to meet deadlines; extensive knowledge
  • Time-management
  • Prioritization

Desired:

  • Natural science background – physics would be ideal – or at least sincere interest
  • Science journalism or at least a desire to communicate science to the general public
  • Some YouTube experience
